The photography industry is mainly male-dominated.
Where there are very less female photographers.

 

But hold on

 

It’s not like earlier days, nowadays female are entering into photography as a full-time career.

 

And they are doing very well.

 

I am not a female but yes have experienced these things so thought of sharing it with my readers.

 

I am the mentor for a photography course in Delhi at DPA.

 

What I have seen is,

 

the interest for photography into girls are increasing.

As there are good no. of females joining the photography course in my school.

Being a female, photographer has many benefits but
we should not forget it has more disadvantages also.

 

But I believe overcoming with disadvantages will bring “YOU” out of you.

The benefits and advantages of being a female photographer.

 

Recently, I did a workshop with female photographers and had interacted with them.
It was an amazing interacting session.

 

They have shared their advantages and disadvantages being a female photographer.

 

I will discuss those points also.

Let’s talk how?

 

1. Generating market:

   Yes, let it be any gender it is difficult to get the clients for your business.
   But you will rarely refuse when a girl photographer approaches you with her professional work.
   You will definitely give her the 1st priority if her work is good.

    

2. Intimate Shoots:

   Stop! yes, being a male photographer you cannot enter into many places :p
   
   Let’s take some example,
   
   There are many types of photography where being a female photographer is more beneficial like Baby, maternity and wedding photography.
   
   The bride may not be that comfortable with the male photographer but,
   she will definitely give her best if the photographer is of her gender.
   
   You can go to their private space and click some creative picture.
   
   Same is maternity Shoots the lady will get compatible with the female photographer.
   
   So, this advantage can create a big business opportunity for them.

    

3. Sensitive issue:
   

   Sometimes doing photojournalism, It very difficult to find a perfect shot but,
   being female you have a women card to access in areas where men may find it difficult.

    

4. Comfortable:
   

   In any situation like shooting a bride, talking to them being the same gender,
   help them to know what they want and in what to focus.
   And even the bride will be more comfortable.
   
   Men’s may find difficult in this, as they cant be as friendly as the female can in such situation.
   
   Sometime in commercials shoots like Lingeries and intimating shoots female photographer can perform better than male as the comfortability, girl to girl is different.

5. Feminine:

   Being a female itself is a creative thing and the most beautiful creature GOD has created.So, here you will always have the opportunities to do better in your photography.

6. Branding:

   This is the very important point, branding will get more and more clients to your business.
   Branding done by a female photographer will be more effective.
   In this case, you can become the brand ambassador of your own business.

    

7. Followers:

   Yes one of the most important points, you can increase your followers much easier than the male photographer.
   
   For example: If you are good in professional photographer just promote your work in social media, you will see the advantages.
   
   Note: There is no comparison between male and female.
   Male are male and female are female. We both are humans and not a different species.
   
   So, anyone can be a photographer.
