But sometimes we are not aware of the picture clicked by them can be better than what they have clicked.
And many don’t know the importance of it. As I teach in Delhi Photography Academy(DPA). Students don’t know the value of landscape photography.
Here in this article, I am providing you with 5 landscape photography tips which will help you make your picture better.
Hold on,
Before we start talking about the tips lets see
What is landscape photography?
Landscape photography generally means taking pictures of nature, capturing the essence, emotion and the beauty of nature and its surrounding. Sometimes the artificial disturbance and architecture also fall under landscape photography according to few photographers.
Capture the wide view of the nature to feel its beauty is called landscape photography.
For example capturing the land, water, sea, mountain, river, tree, sunny sky and nature. Making a beautiful composition of such natural elements will create amazing pictures.
Now let’s jump into the tips
1.Shoot during the golden hours
2. Consider composition
3. Work with the weather
4. Use tripod
5.Capturing the movement
1. Shoot during the golden hours:
Landscape photography has its own essence as it is directly connected to nature. The feelings you feel while clicking the picture should be felt in the pictures too. And to give a very beautiful emotion to the picture shooting in golden hour is the key.
Golden hour add value to the picture. It’s not a hard rule but yes it will definitely make you fall for your click.
What are golden hours in photography?
The time when sunrises before the light are too hard and the time of sunset before it’s too dark is called the golden hours in photography jargons.
The early morning sunlight and in the evening sunlight gives a very beautiful yellowish orange color to the environment which looks like a golden color that’s why this duration of time is called golden hours.
Go wake up early morning in between 3 to 4 am and feel the essence of nature and put that essence into your pictures too.
2. Consider composition:
Doing any types of photography you have to consider composition to make it look better. In portraits photography, there may be less role of composition but yes you need to study and make a proper light and color composition.
What is a composition in photography?
Anything which you want to include in the frame of the picture is the composition.
It plays a very vital role in landscape photography. And according to me, it is the best way to practice composition and framing.
Use the following rules to add value to your composition:
Negative space
Background
Foreground
Movements
Balance
Rule of third
Using these concepts will make your picture look more effective.
3. Work with the weather:
Omg, it’s raining! Omg, there is fog outside! Omg, there is wind blowing!
Change this attitude and jump with your camera see the difference after that.
Don’t stop if it’s raining until its huge rain. Work with the weather see the climate.
To be different you need to do things differently.
For example, a picture clicked in summer compared to winter will be different. But both sessions are important as it will give you beautiful pictures.
See the raindrop in the grass after the rain uses it as your foreground. Before the rain when it’s cloudy capture the clouds and after the rain why the sky is clear and blue capture it and make it part of the frame.
4. Use tripod:
Tripod will help you in many different ways like:
Stability in the picture
Avoid handshake
You can Increase the shutter speed
You get time to take a live view and capture the picture
Helps in capturing a sharp image
Helps is capture broad depth of the field
Using tripod is a great help for landscape photography. While clicking pictures with a tripod at evening you may not achieve the adequate amount of light as you may shake your hand.
5. Capturing the movements:
When you are into landscape photography or in the mood to capture some good and creative nature’s pictures use this technique you will love it.
Learn how to capture the movements it means to look for things in motion like water in the river, tides in the oceans, falling leaves in the autumn.
Try to capture and make it a creative shot like while taking a moving water bodies picture.
You can make the water look wispy and it looks fabulous adding great value to your picture.
But how can you create the wispy look in landscape photography?
In this case, you will require a tripod you can also do without a tripod but in that case, you need a steady hand. Now increase the shutter speed and make the ISO at 100 and compensate the aperture according to the lighting condition or the need of the picture and see what you will create.
Few bonus tips :
Change the perspective
Practice more and more
Do lots of mistakes
Note your mistakes and try to improve it
I hope this information will help you in improving your photography skills and help you do your best in landscape photography.
There is no any hard rule in photography the best option is to learn and jump into the field.
Thank you so much
